Taking Back Sunday @ Pipeline Cafe

Last Friday, Jordan and I went to see Taking Back Sunday at Pipeline Cafe in Honolulu. I haven't seen them perform since 2002 in Richmond, VA and loved every second of their show last weekend. I felt like I was 18 again! Here's some photos from the show:

My brother is in town...

He was sent out here by his company to work for a few months and we've had fun hanging out the past couple of days before he starts working next week. His first day here, I drove him around the southeast part of the Island and yesterday I took him up to the northshore where he'll be working so he could check it out and surf a little bit.

There wasn't much going on in the water but he still had fun surfing in Hawaii.

Bayfest 2009

This past weekend was Bayfest at the Marine Corps Base. It's held every year and this year the main performer was The Black Eyed Peas. I figured it'd be fun to test out the new lens for my camera so I took some pictures of Fergie to send to the guys in Afghanistan that wish they could have been at the concert. Here's a couple :

Fast Forward to the end of July

Heather, Slade, and the kids came to visit Slade's mom on the north shore at the end of July. It was so good having a little bit of home here in Hawaii. I still can't believe how big the kids have gotten.

While they were here, Slade was able to join in on a UFC style fight that was being held at the army base.

(By the way, he kicked the other guys butt!)

We also went to the Honolulu Zoo while they were here. It was my first time going...Dennis and I didn't have to opportunity to go before he left and I actually had alot of fun.

Deployment Life

I started this blog awhile back, thinking that I would have absolutely nothing to post about while I was here in Hawaii by myself. Dennis is currently in Afghanistan with the marines and up until recently, life has been pretty boring.

I'll start at the beginning...

Dennis and I moved to Hawaii in January of this year. Hawaii is absolutely beautiful but before I could even blink, it felt like he was out the door for trainings, meetings, overnights and then 2 months in California. While he was gone, I went to the beach alot, did alot of reading, and even climbed Koko Head.

Dennis came home for 3 weeks in April and we had some AMAZING photos taken by JacquieRyanPhotographic.

The rest of our time together for those 3 weeks feels like a blur because he then left for Afghanistan which was quite possibly one of the most devastating days of my life. Seeing the person that I loved the most walk away from me and get on a bus, especially knowing where he was going... was so incredibly hard and I wish I could say that I would never have to do it again.
